January 9, 2008new message from Frank on the newest S//C forum
Hello friends!
Hope you all had a nice holiday and a safe New Year. 2007 is dead and gone, so here's to a regret free 2008. Some new developments are as follows: Please let us all welcome NEW TOMORROW to the S//C family. They are an amazing band from California and I'm sure they are going to have a bright future. So check them out and show them your love. A huge thanks to all of you that already set up street teams and also to everyone who took the time to tune in to the David Costa NJ recording session. I gotta say that kid has flow. He continues to get better and better. It blows my mind. A huge thanks and much respect to all the artists and writers that submitted for our virtual gallery...You are all very talented, also congrat's to all the winners as well. We also have found a new writer that will be showcasing in the next few weeks. So keep your eyes out for F.T. WILLZ. Update 2: We have a new division of S//C we are creating called The K.G.B.. The K.G.B. is open to all and consists of young people taking it upon themselves to make this world a better place. I promise you 1 person can make a difference...but millions can start a revolution. The K.G.B. will take up homework assignments for the greater good. Now I know you guys are probably real busy with school starting again and I'm sure all your blogs need attending too but if you have any free time. Here are your homework assignments: #1 If you're 18 and live in the United States. Educate yourself on the issues at hand and register to vote! You can do this online at www.rockthevote.com. It's real easy, fill out the form online and print it out to sign and mail. If you're not 18. Find out about the issues and discuss them with your parents and friends. Express your opinion to them and make sure they vote. This is our world and we do have a say. #2 We have new designs in the works and they will be out soon. However, if you can't wait or already have all the S//C gear you want. Then please go to www.aspca.com. If you pledge around $19.00 they will send you some awesome gear and a photo of an animal you have saved. #3 Read Gandhi's autobiography. "My experiments with truth". I promise its a really interesting read and his teachings will touch your heart. ...and last but not least! #4 Do a selfless deed... Help someone who truly needs your help without expecting anything in return. It could be as simple as buying a homeless person a sandwich or volunteer your time at a soup kitchen or a children's hospital. Every little bit counts. More homework assignments will be passed out later. Take care of each other and believe in yourselves. It sounds cliche' but you are the future. Take initiative and try to make this world a better place. Until next time, keep the faith friends. xo Frank + s//c

July 9, 2007MCR interview by truth.explosion.magazine - March 15th 2005I slept in today, and then I rushed around to get ready for a CMW conference that the record label I work for was a part of. I was tempted afterwards by drinks and food so, stayed at the hotel later than I probably should have. By the time my friend showed up to drive me to the Taste of Chaos show in Mississauga, I was half in the bag. We got stuck in traffic for far too long. I kept calling Matt (who was patiently waiting with the other press at the venue) and saying, "Dude. We're so close. Seriously. We'll be there soon." Over an hour later, we pulled up at the venue. Since the label was also setting up a merch booth I dove out of the car, asked a parking attendant where the loading dock was and directed my friend towards it as I ran straight at the press area. I charged in the room, sweating, out of breath, still half drunk. So, I sit down and watch Gerard and Frank from My Chemical Romance take hauls of their American cigarettes just outside the window. I am salivating at the sight, having craved a cigarette for the entire excruciatingly long drive here. They eventually begin making their way inside. I'm sweating and nervous. This is my first interview and I have been listening to their new record, "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" repeatedly for the last two weeks. (Partially because I am too lazy to change the CD in the morning, in my often hung-over stupor, and partially because I dig the songs.) So, the boys walk in and they look like normal dudes. Little to no makeup, jeans, t-shirts, hoodies. I calm a little as we shake hands and introduce ourselves. I try to explain the thesis of truth.explosion as they nod in agreement. Truth.Explosion: Hey guys. Thanks for sitting down with us. Now that you understand what truth.explosion is about, what experience do you want to share? My Chemical Romance: Well, we did a CMJ show in New York for our old label, Eyeball Records. And it just so happens that Keith Morris, who used to sing in Black Flag and Circle Jerks, was there. So, he came to the show and he came up to... I think it was you... TE: He just walked up to you, randomly? MCR: Well, we had heard that he was there. So onstage I think I kinda called him out. I was like, "I heard somebody from Black Flag was here tonight, this one's for you!" and, you know, that was a really good show and I remember I hurt my neck real bad, it was destroyed. and, (later) he walks up and we all immediately stand up and (Keith's) all like, "No, no, sit down." and we're like, "No, no dude." and he's like, "I'm Keith" and we're all just like, "Holy shit!" so, that was our first meeting and we hung out a little bit that night... TE: Were you weirded out at all? Like, sitting there with a man who had so much to do with the music you grew up listening to? MCR: It was so bad, I couldn't even talk to him, I was just like, "Uhhhh..." TE: So, then what happened? Did you see him again? MCR: Well, then we went to LA to make our record and one night we're at a convenience store buying cigarettes and Keith happened to be there. TE: Another encounter... MCR: Yeah, I was actually there with my girlfriend at the time and we were getting gas. I go in to pay and there's this little dude with long dreads and he's buying like, peanuts or something and he's going out the door, and I corner him and I was just like, "oh... uhh.. Keith!" and he's like, "uhh... what?" I was just like, "Dude, I really hope you remember me. I'm Frank, I'm in this band, My Chemical Romance, we're out here recording." and the only thing I remember getting out of my mouth was, "Would you please sing on our record?" and he was like, "Sure, look me up in the phone book." TE: The phone book? That's weird... MCR: I know, I felt like a creepy band guy. TE: Oh you're not? MCR: At the time, I don't even think he remembered meeting us. He was kind of in diabetic shock or something... TE: Haha. Diabetic shock? Are you serious? MCR: He was like, " I gotta go eat... so... " and, I was like, "Whoa, well, can I get your number?" and he was like, "I'm in the phone book." and I told him, "I don't have a phone book, so just write it down." so, he writes it down, I basically forced him to do it. And I call him the next week, and I'm like, "We're recording at this studio on 57th, it's not that far from where you live, um, you should come out and do some stuff." and he's like, alright fine. We set it up, he showed up. And, I remember lunch was coming soon and I was like, "Yo, whatever you wanna eat..." So we're sitting there and he orders one of everything on the menu. Every kind of Chinese food. That's what he wanted. He just wanted Chinese food. And we're like, "Alright..." So we sat down, I was in the vocal booth with him, and I wrote down some stuff we wanted him to do, and he would do it, and I would just be sitting there with my eyes wide open and he would be like, "Yeah? Or no? Do you want me to do it again?" and I would just be like, "Oh, yeah, that's fine." I didn't want to be like, oh, no, do that again or whatever. So, finally we get into the swim of things I started being like, "Oh, yeah, do that again, do this more like this." and I couldn't believe I was like, coaching Keith Morris... TE: So who was actually in control? MCR: Well, I was in the control room and, literally, they had me pressing the buttons, like the call-back button and stuff. And it was like this huge deal. I mean, I don't even think they knew who he was. And we're like, freaking out, and they couldn't understand why we were freaking out. I'm hitting callback, like, "Uh...you might want to try that again Keith... sir." TE: That's insane. I can't even imagine what that must have felt like. MCR: (Laughing) Then he starts telling jokes. TE: Tell me you recorded them? MCR: Yeah, we started recording, and it was just fucking incredible. TE: Did any of the jokes end up anywhere? MCR: During one song he just told a story about him and his dad at a truck stop and that's actually in the song; underlying. TE: I will listen for that. MCR: So, then we just sat down and the Chinese food came. And, honestly, there was a table like the size of this room just full of Chinese food. And he's a small guy, he just opens all the containers, and says, "Everybody dig in." TE: Just a complete dude... MCR: He was just a dude. Like, a little dude. And he's eating little bits and then told us about his movie he's writing and so many great stories and it felt like we just learned so much for probably an hour. And that, that probably was one of the best experiences the band had. For the band, like as far as vans blowing up and shit, that doesn't happen as often. We are very lucky like that. TE: Are you still touring in a van? Haven't you moved up in the world yet? MCR: The last van we had died finally so now we're on a bus. And that's great but we still don't have any fucking room for some reason. TE: Is it one of those hot buses with bunks and shit? MCR: It has bunks but we have so many people now with us, and it's a family. It's not like, crew, it's just family members. TE: I know exactly what you mean. The label I work for is the same sort of deal. We prefer to think of it as a family, not just a business. MCR: I know that any new crew we hire, if they don't fit into the family, then it just doesn't work out. But, everybody we got now feels like family. TE: What is the truth behind My Chemical Romance? MCR: There are many truths behind My Chemical Romance. I think truth is the biggest aspect of My Chemical Romance. The truth behind it is its five, very normal or simple individuals that want to change the world by what they say in the songs, off stage, during, between songs, by how they perform. TE: Anything else? MCR: Oh, flattery. The truth is we like flattery and chocolate cake.

July 3, 2007meet and greet MCRon Tuesday 26th June I went to Brussels at Stubru [a Belgian radio] to participate at a contest to win a meet&greet with My Chemical Romance at the Belgian festival Rock Werchter... we both had to sing WTTBP live on the radio during 1 minute
Thursday 28th June: meet n greet!!! normally the m&g was at 5:30pm but then Savannah told me it was at 5pm...so at 4:40pm Florence and I went to the place were we had the wait...after waiting 15min. I decided to ask someone from the crew if it was here were we had to be for the m&g...he said 'no' and he sent us somewhere else - Florence and I ran for our lives! lol cuz we were scared that we would be too late!... finally the guy from Stubru came to us!...we had to wait on the festivalsite well then Florence and I decided to see Billy Talent but they just went offstage :( and I really wanted to see them :( we went backstage to a little place who was very enjoyable! :) we had to sit, a photographer took pics of us, an interviewer did an interview with those 3 other ppl and then also with me and a woman was waiting outside so she could warn us when mcr was arriving... "they are there" the woman said and i felt like dying!...Frankie came in, then Gee and Ray and Bob was outside [he was smoking] we shaked hands and then bob came in... then someone from the crew said we could ask them for autographs...I began with Gerard, cuz he was standing next to me...he looked so down, he didn't smile exepted for the pics, I tried to make him smile while saying sth when he wrote an other name but it didn't work...then of course I went to Frankie who was at a table signing stuff and you have to know that he is even more beautiful in real life then on pics!!! I sound like a groupie but it's not my fault! he just is the most beautiful man ever! lol - I tried to stay as long as possible with Frank :) I gave him some stuff among other things a petition and batman sunnies I bought in Germany and about my batman sunnies...he smiled, he said thank you and he wore them the whole time! :) I asked him if I could make pics of him, he said 'yeah sure', he posed twice for my camera...the 1st time with a smile and the 2nd time with a silly face! xD and guess what!!! that fucking camera didn't work!!!!! I could take 2 other pics of him though [i'll post them asap] we made some group pics, then Gerard went outside, Frankie was shaking hands with everyone to say bye and I didn't know where I had to stand so idk why but i was standing in the back of him till he went outside...I tapped him twice on his shoulder, he turned, he made the cutest smile ever, he said bye and went outside when I turned I saw Bob and Ray signing some stuff at a table, I went to them cuz I still didn't had their autographs... unfortunately they was no time to ask them questions or to make pics with them alone :( but I'm already very happy I met them! I just wish it could last longer then 5min... 06/28/2007 was the most awesome day ever!! thank you for reading and sorry that I typed a lot of uninteresting things down, I just thought I had let you know everything in details lol
Thank you guys! :) ps.: I'm still mad at my camera!...it sucks that i couldn't take more pics!
oh! and one more thing...when my friends asked me how it was i told them about Gerard being different then normal and i said maybe it was because he's not engaged anymore...everyone was laughing with me but now i see i was right...[i still have to read about it though]

October 18, 2006THE USED discuss their upcoming album!!
When the Used’s most recent album, In Love and Death, hit stores in September 2004, Fall Out Boy were just a bunch of kids from Chicago, My Chemical Romance were in their “Gerard-is-chubby” phase and Panic! at the Disco were still a Blink-182 cover band. Needless to say, things have changed. Now, as the Used gear up for the release of their still-untitled third album (due in early 2007), they find themselves no longer at the forefront of the emo/Warped/MySpace/whatever punk revolution. Which is perfectly fine with them. “I don’t really understand the scene today,” bassist Jeph Howard laughed. “I mean, I love My Chem — we used to tour with them all the time, so I’m stoked for them and I’m really excited to hear their new album. But I don’t think any of us are really into a lot of those other bands. In all respect to them, I personally don’t like their music. “I mean, we were doing pretty good for a while there,” he continued, considering his band’s impact on the scene. “We were on the radio a lot more than our friends’ bands, and that sucks that some of them didn’t get as big as they should have. So you never can tell what’s going to happen. And, really, I don’t have any idea about how our new record will do. But if we don’t sell as many copies, that’s OK with me.” Expectations were perhaps absurdly high when the Used launched In Love and Death. After all, it came on the heels of the breakout success of their self-titled debut, which sold more than 770,000 copies and established the group of four Orem, Utah, punks as an act to be reckoned with. And while Death sold roughly the same amount — and included the hit “Take It Away” — many within the industry viewed it as a disappointment. So when the Used reconvened in Los Angeles in June to begin work on the new album with producer John Feldmann, who helmed their last two discs, they did so as decided underdogs — a position which, according to Howard, freed them up to make the album they’ve always wanted to make. And the results — somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 songs, with names like “Earthquakes” and “Slit Your Own Throat” — were certifiably, well, “rocking.” “It’s really difficult to describe the new songs, but they’re really rocking, and we’re so in love with them. You’ll definitely know that it’s a rock record,” Howard said. “Quinn [Allman’s] guitar licks are insane and so brilliant. And the vocals are the most incredible that Bert [McCracken] has ever done. It’s like everything he’s ever sung, except, like turned to 11. Everyone who loves his voice is going to love it even more, and, well, everyone who hates it is probably going to hate it even more.” Of course, this wouldn’t be an article about the Used if it failed to address both their many detractors and the copious amount of drama that seems to buzz around them like a swarm of hornets. While the hating is usually constant — Internet rumors that McCracken has died of a drug overdose pop up monthly — lately, things have been percolating in the drama department, thanks largely to former drummer Branden Steineckert, who the band parted ways with just last month. The split was, shall we say, a bit less than amicable, and seemingly stirred up a new round of Internet hateration. But the remaining members of the Used have resolved to ignore it all, naming a new replacement for Steineckert — Dan Whitesides, formerly of Salt Lake City’s the New Transit Direction — and working hard to wrap up the sessions for their new album by the end of October. “There’s been a bunch of drama happening with us, so we decided just to put our heads down and power through this album. And it’s the best thing we’ve ever done,” Howard said. “If people hate it, fine. We’re still doing what we love. As long as we’re happy, that’s all that matters.” (Source: MTV) xo
